Spillavhengighet Norway started as a support group for relatives of people with gambling addiction, originally called PTS - Pårørende Til Spillavhengige.
2002
Spillavhengighet Norway was founded in 2002 by Lill-Tove Bergmo in Lyngen.
2004
In 2004, we became an interest group and were given a place in the steering group for the first action plan against problem gambling in Norway. This enabled us to apply for financial support, which has been important for our work.
2005
One of the major milestones came in 2005 when Lyngen municipality became the first slot machine-free municipality in Norway, largely thanks to the organization's efforts.
2007
In 2007, Norway became free of slot machines, which led to a significant decrease in inquiries and a restructuring of the organization.
2010 / 2011
In 2010, PTS merged with the National Organization Against Gambling Addiction (LOMS), and we were restructured to include both problem gamblers and their relatives. This led to the name change to Spillavhengighet Norway in 2011.
2013
Inquiries are starting to pick up again, and this time it's online gambling that stands out as particularly problematic. At the same time, inquiries about computer games also increase. In the same year, the organization makes its first appointment, with a general manager in a 30% position.
2017
This year is a big year for the organization, and through the Norwegian Directorate of Health, Gambling Addiction Norway receives a grant for project funding. As a result, they now have the opportunity to expand their administration. They hire political advisors and marketers in 100% project positions. In addition, the position of general manager is increased to 100%.
The organization is growing both in self-help groups and the number of volunteers. With a small administration, development is rapid and a strategic plan is created for the next 4 years.
2020
The corona pandemic made big waves throughout the country and the organization had to find new solutions for its group participants when everything shut down. 2020 is the year when digital self-help groups are created. It turned out that the need for such an offer was great, even after the pandemic. Today, this offer of help is still very popular. In the same year, the organization experiences a sharp increase in the number of inquiries and relapses characterize the entire year.
2021
In March this year, the organization shares a report explaining which way we want to go in relation to the gambling model.
2023/2024
The organization is developing steadily and offices are being established in Oslo, Trondheim and Halden.
